By hosting a Trainee, this has allowed us to introduce students into the aquatic centre and provide them with ongoing training. Having undertaken their pool lifeguard award, the students can lean from on the job training as well as industry training. This provides a more meaningful role for the students on site and they can contribute to the facility and its operation.

Their fixed timetable allows us to plan a set role for the student and provides them with the opportunity to treat their time as a “shift” and participate as a regular employee.
